When we think about going to the psychologist for an alcohol or other drug problem, many people do not know what is really happening in the consultation. That is why we have decided to start this new series where we will explain, in a simple and evidence-based way, some of the most commonly used psychological therapies to treat addictions and how they help people during their recovery process.
In this first video we talk about motivational interviewing, a tool that helps to explore ambivalence – that part that wants to change and that part that still wants to continue consuming – so that motivation is born from the person themselves and the change is more solid and lasting.
