Did you know that many people with an addiction have other mental health problems as well?

We often talk about addictions and mental health as if they were separate problems. But in reality, they often appear together. This is called dual pathology.

More than half of the people treated in mental health also have an addiction. And even so, most do not receive treatment that addresses both problems together.

The scientific evidence is clear: when treated together, results improve. A recent international consensus with the participation of RIAPAd indicates that the integrated approach helps reduce relapses and favors recovery.

Because understanding the relationship between addictions and mental health is key to offering more effective and person-centred treatments.
